What is Naturopathy
Naturopathic medicine is a complete and holistic approach to individualized healthcare that focuses on addressing the underlying causes of illness and disease. Naturopathic care combines disease diagnosis with a treatment approach that uses effective medical-grade natural medicine and non-invasive treatments to enhance the body’s natural healing response to restore health, function and vitality. As Naturopathic practitioners, we incorporate herbal medicine, nutritional advice and supplementation as well as lifestyle advice to treat disease and enhance well-being.
Naturopathy is used to treat a wide range of disorders including anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, insomnia, hormonal imbalances such as PMS, endometriosis or menopause, migraines, skin issues and autoimmune conditions to name a few.
What to expect
During your initial hour long consultation, a comprehensive health history is taken in order to discover the root cause of the illness. This will include assessing all your body systems such as digestive system, cardiovascular, nervous systems. Dietary assessment and lifestyle habits are discussed.
The goal of your initial consultation is to find out as much information about your health so a naturopathic care plan can be designed for you individually. This may involve dietary, lifestyle changes, herbal supplements, vitamins and minerals.
Subsequent visits are for a half-hour. Your second visit will include testing to determine your nutritional status, health, vitality and underlying constitutional factors. These tests may include a zinc taste test, nail and tongue analysis, iridology, blood pressure, blood glucose test and weight analysis. Additional pathology testing may also be recommended.
